Saswatha Pooja (also spelled Shaswata Puja) is a deeply significant annual ritual in the Vaishnava and Vedic traditions that invokes divine blessings for permanent (shaswata means "eternal" or "permanent") wellbeing upon the sponsoring family.
The Rituals Included
At Ananda's Seva Sadana Trust, our Saswatha Pooja package encompasses a full day of sacred activities performed by qualified Vedic priests (Purohits):
- Sankalpa — A formal vow taken in the name of the sponsor family, invoking blessings for health, prosperity, and spiritual progress.
- Gow Pooja — Direct worship of the sacred cow with flowers, turmeric, kumkum, and sacred threads.
- Gau Aarti — The ceremonial waving of lamps before Gau Mata, with chanting of Vedic hymns in her praise.
- Havana (Homa) — A sacred fire ritual with offerings of ghee, sesame, and sacred herbs, purifying the atmosphere.
- Prasad Distribution — Blessed food distributed to all cows, staff, and visitors on the day of the pooja.
Spiritual Benefits
It is said in the Puranas that sponsoring a Saswatha Pooja at a legitimate Goushala grants the sponsor freedom from ancestral debts (Pitru Dosha), removal of planetary afflictions (Grahadosha), and the accumulation of immense positive karma that benefits the entire family lineage for seven generations.
How to Sponsor
The annual Saswatha Pooja sponsorship is available at Rs 25,000 per year. This covers all ritual materials, priest fees, and includes sending you a detailed photo report of the pooja performed in your name.
